Have you ever seen someone do something that you thought was just absolutely gross?
Ok, for you that haven't seen anything just totally out of line, just keep living. I personally thinks it's totally gross when people start mouth kissing their dogs. Really? Those things lick themselves and all sorts of Nasty stuff.
Anyways, there are a lot of things that can be considered nasty and some of these things we personally partake in. No I'm not blatantly calling you nasty or anything but I do want to inform you of how you might just be.
To help me we this point I'll use the following text
Luke 5: 36 And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. 37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. 38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. 39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
This is a pretty in depth scripture so we won't try to deal with it all in on sitting.
Verse 39. No one is accustom to their old ways and are ready to immediately change to a new way of doing things right away, at least not totally. ( I hope you saw that point) in spite of immediate change not happening we must begin to accept change. We must know that the will of God for us is eventually and Inevitably change our taste and desires.
Let's get to the nasty stuff
Verse 36-38.
Here Jesus gives us a clear understanding that we must put good with good or new with new. IE... Don't put your new suit or on top of a nasty, stinky shirt. Though the outward appearance looks good, the stank will still come through. YOU SO NASTY
To save time I'll go ahead and end this... But continue to read the versus for more personally clarity.
In conclusion, we must know that God has called us into a new life and when we choose not to get rid of our old attachments and customs, it's just like putting on some stanky clothes on. Though it takes time to do this we should be taking time to change.
??? How do we get the stank/nasty out of our lives, when it's so much easier to keep it in???
So it took me a while to think about an answer to this question. And the truth is...I don't really know. I'm personally struggling with trying to remove a nasty situation out of my life. It seems I make progress and God gives me the strength to tell the mountain to move then I second guess the strength he gave me. Some people fail to realize that being "nasty" can mean you have a bogus attitude and respect level towards someone. Then it seems so much easier to leave it there because you get tired of the battle.
ReplyDeleteSo my question is once God tells you to remove the "nasty" from your life how do you really go about it??? It's easier said then done.
It is definitely easier said than done that's why Jesus had to explain it that way he did. Many times the "nasty" feel good. ( no pun intended). Many times the "nasty" is something we already know too well. Many times the "nasty" is all we know. No matter how accustom to a thing we are, we must realize that time and consistency must prevail. Once you here God in your situation, believe that He has your best interest in mind and know that the sooner you overcome your "nasty" the sooner He will open up better. Mind over Matter. It will be a struggle you will feel guilty when you don't obey but if you with diligence strive for the will of God, He and only He will create the increase. Bondage doesn't have to be an option.
ReplyDeleteSeriously think of it this way, when you don't bathe up begin to smell, your smell draws flies, flies bring germs, germs bring infection, infection untreated brings death. A cleansing allows for removal of the stinch (sin), an exfoliation polishes (repentance), lotion enriches (studying God's Word) and fresh clothes (walking out His word) gives you a fresh start. So unless you get cleansed (being washed and cleansed by the Almighty Abba daily), what are you attracting?
ReplyDeleteOh blessedserenity I loved that.
