This will be the first of many blogs to come. This was started due to a few friends suggesting that I start blogging. So here we go... I hope you enjoy and feel free to comment.
I am of the belief that we tend to over think about a lot of stuff. Most of us spend all day thinking and worrying about things that we can't change with our worrying. I know that we have grown a tendency to do this but worry leads to stress and do any of us enjoy stress.?
Worry is thoughts and images of a negative nature in which mental attempts are made to avoid anticipated potential threats. As an emotion it is experienced as anxiety or concern about a real or imagined issue, usually personal issues such as health or finances or broader ones such as environmental pollution and social or technological change. Most people experience short-lived periods of worry in their lives without incident; indeed, a moderate amount of worrying may even have positive effects, if it prompts people to take precautions
When I start to be over concerned about stuff or "worried" about silliness, I think of the srcipture that says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding". In all honesty its hard to trust in the Lord sometimes, in spite of us knowing that He has worked stuff out for us time and time again. I know through prayer He will reveal direction to me but the waiting sometimes feels unreal. Are you worried about how something will turnout? What have you done reduce your worry, concern, stress? Share your formula for overcoming this emotional obsticle.

I personally don't belive worrying is "Just the way life is". I belive a person choices to worry. You can be concerned about a person or a situation and should be if it's a negative issue. I use to worry myself sick, literally, about things in my life. The key to knowing if you are worrying or stressing about something is when your always thinking about it. You can't focus on anything else and your totally consumed by it. God gives us the tools to deal with the trials he places upon us. If we trust him and place them back in his hands he'll handle it. It may not always turn out the way we want it to but God will give us
ReplyDeleteeverything we need. Worrying isn't one of those things.

I feel you P. Is worry something we learn?
ReplyDeleteBig bro, what you said is so true. I particularly feel that i can relate to the last piece the most. It is hard to fully walk in faith sometimes. That is a topic people in the church don't like to talk about, almost as if you will become the devil himself if you don't "always" walk in faith 100%. I quote it because I feel like no one can honestly say they have kept strong faith and believed what God has ordained every single time they have been confronted with an obstacle. To worry and be doubtful brings about stress, but what I have experienced (recently in fact) is that although you may find yourself in that state of mind, when God reveals himself to you it's like an epiphany! gmr You begin to recap everything that has taken place. You then realize that God has his hand on you the entire time, which gives a sense of relief. Can stress be dangerous? Yes. Can it even lead to depression? Yes. Can it have an outcome that is worth it all? Yes.

I think it's a learned behavior like knowing the difference between being mad and angry.
ReplyDeleteWell, wow that was a lot that was said, and I will say that sometimes it is hard to give it completely to God but then you have to, other wise you will make yourself sick and depressed. It's like right now I know that God has a mate for me but the anticipation is a doozy, but I trust that God has his hand on this situation because he has promised me over and over that he got me. Now some years ago, yeah I was all over the place on this subject stressiing, depression, crying and stating that I know that marriage will not take place for me, I will still be single when the "rapture" comes, but thru love from Jesus true love from Him lets me know that He knows exactly what He is doing and I should trust Him in this no matter what it may look like.
ReplyDeleteWow Cocoa. You spoke like a woman that understands. Incredible word. What is your process of relieving your worry? What works for you?

ReplyDeleteE. Suttles I understand your feeling and have come to realize that when we start a situation with the prayerful mindset it is easier to cope and handle the potential worries ahead. Our backwards mentality of dealing with the situation now and prayer later will be the death of us... "Study before the test"
ReplyDeleteFormula for the relief of worry...
ReplyDeleteTaking deep breaths and exhaling can be a start, but praying and leaving it at God's feet seals the deal for me. A very wise young man once said if you can't change it o well the Lord can. Let it go because you weren't meant to carry it.
@ blessedserenity lovely answer but I have a question. Do you do your routine before the worry has begun or are you normally in the storm and then resort to the routine to find peace in the midst of the situation?
